GENERAL INFORMATION

The Hague is the third largest city of the Netherlands, after Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Located in the west of the Netherlands, near the coast of the North Sea. The Hague is the seat of the Dutch government and parliament, the Supreme Court, and the Council of State.
The Hague is the International City of Peace and Justice. It is the United Nations second city, after New York. There are 131 international organisations in The Hague, employing around 14,000 people dedicated to the cause of world peace.

The Hague enjoys a temperate oceanic climate. October is at the beginning of winter, hence in the dry season, hence temperatures are expected to range from 8 to 14 degrees Celsius with a high chance of rainfall. Visitors are recommended to pack accordingly, and bring a heavy coat or jacket.


Travel

You can get to The Hague via Amsterdam Schiphol Airport or via Rotterdam The Hague Airport.


Amsterdam Schiphol Airport
The most convenient wat to travel from Schiphol Airport to The Hague is by train. At Schiphol, the train station is situated underneath the Schiphol Plaza in the central hall of the terminal, where there are ticket desks and ticket machines. A one-way ticket (enkele reis) costs 7,80 and a day return (dagretour) costs 15,60. Direct trains to Den Haag CS run every fifteen minutes and the journey takes around 30 minutes.

Rotterdam The Hague Airport
You can travel from The Hague to the Rotterdam The Hague Airport on RandstadRail E and the Airport Shuttle (Bus 50). From The Hague's Central Station take RandstadRail E to the Meijersplein stop. Transfer there to the Airport Shuttle (Bus 50). The bus rides directly to the airport.The shuttle bus rides every 15 or 30 minutes and provides a good connection for the metro and RandstadRail as well as the flight schedule at the airport.


VISA REQUIREMENTS

Visa requirements for persons visiting The Netherlands.

Applications for visas can take several weeks to process, so please ensure that you make arrangements to obtain a visa well in advance. Please also ensure that the application form is completed in full and that you include a letter from your employer, or sponsoring organisation from within your home country.


ELECTRICITY AND POWER

The voltage in the Netherlands is 230 volts at 50 hertz . The standard connectors and sockets are type C/F (Europlug, Schuko).

There will be facilities at the meeting venue for computer use and access to the Internet.
