At the second and third SWG meetings the need for sub-groups to work on specific topics was identified. The interim terms of reference for the Jack Mackerel and Deepwater Sub-Groups were agreed at the 5th meeting of the SWG.

Meetings of the Sub-Groups are held in conjunction with meetings of the SWG, and their reports are annexed to those of the SWG.

The Convener of the Jack Mackerel Sub-Group was Dr. Jim Ianelli. The Convener of the Deepwater Sub-Group was Mr Rodolfo Serra.
