The SPRFMO Secretariat is pleased to welcome Dr Jessica Fuller, who commenced her role as Science Manager on 3 August 2026.
Dr Fuller joins the Secretariat with more than a decade of international experience in fisheries science, marine policy, and ocean governance. Throughout her career, she has worked at the interface between science and policy, supporting regional fisheries management processes, scientific coordination, and evidence-based decision-making across a range of international organisations.
Prior to joining SPRFMO, Dr Fuller held scientific and policy positions with WorldFish, GRID-Arendal, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), where she supported fisheries governance initiatives, coordinated technical working groups, contributed to stock assessment processes, and worked closely with regional fisheries bodies and their Members. Her professional experience also includes interdisciplinary research, project management, stakeholder engagement, and the development of science-based advice to support sustainable fisheries management.
Dr Fuller holds a PhD in Sustainable Development from the University of Bergen, Norway, where her research focused on sustainable coastal management and interdisciplinary approaches to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals. Her expertise spans fisheries governance, scientific coordination, ecosystem-based management, and science communication.
As Science Manager, Dr Fuller will support the work of the SPRFMO Scientific Committee and its subsidiary bodies, contributing to the Organisation's mission of ensuring the long-term conservation and sustainable use of fishery resources in the South Pacific Ocean through the application of the best available scientific information.
